Kyle Lansford, Supernumery Circuit Clerk of Shelby County passed away Oct. 7, 2007 at the age of 76, was born Oct. 17, 1930. Mr. Lansford had a long career as a public servant and official in Shelby County, both in law enforcement and as an elected official. His passion was serving people, first as a sergeant in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, then as lieutenant with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department for eight years. He was elected to be the circuit clerk first in 1971 and then was re-elected to two terms, serving in this roll from the years 1971 to 1989.

During his retirement his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and pleasure. He was a loving and generous husband, father, and grandfather with a warm and kind spirit to all who have known him. Kyle knew no strangers and had a kind word for everyone.

As a public servant, he was known for his honesty and dedication to finding ways to help others, especially those in need. He volunteered in many endeavors to help youth and charitable organizations. Blessed and joyful memories will be forever cherished in our hearts and minds. He was a member of Wilsonville Baptist Church since 1968 and a long time Mason with the Vincent Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his father, Copeland Lansford; mother, Lillie Lansford; three brothers, O.C., Ted, and Hershel Lansford; one sister, Beulah Saint; and one nephew, Bobby Saint.

He is survived by his wife, French Ell; sons, Michael Lansford, David Armstrong (Antonia); daughters, Renea Broussard (Mike), Janet Gill (Bim); eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; special niece and nephews; two sister-in-laws; one aunt; and many other extended family members and friends.

Friends are invited to share in a celebration of life of Kyle Lansford Tuesday, Oct. 9. The family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m. at Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home in Columbiana. A celebration service will be held Wednesday, October 10, 11 a.m. at Bolton Letlow Chapel with burial to follow in the Harpersville City Cemetery.

Floral expressions are appreciated but the family encourages donations be made to Wilsonville Baptist Church Building Fund.
