Funeral service for Peggy Elrod, age 83, of Chelsea, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at Bolton-Letlow Chapel. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Gardens.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Elrod, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, Oct. 6 at a local hospital, was born Aug. 31, 1924. Mrs. Elrod was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher.

She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, James Casey Elrod; brothers, Jack Rich, Jimmie Rich, Arno Rich; and sisters, Wannie Conyers, Faye Marie Ruby and Elaine Watkins.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, James Elrod of Chelsea; sons, James (Carol) Elrod, Jr. of Riverside, Steve (Pat) Elrod of Mobile; daughter, Wannie Watkins of Chelsea; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Holcombe; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
