Bridge teacher, director and columnist John Randall was recently recognized with a 2007 Award of Excellence by the American Contract Bridge League.

O.T. Johnson, officer of the ACBL’s Unit 157, presented the award for the development of the Shelby County Bridge Club and his Web site, http://www.riverchasebridge.com.

The bridge club, conceived in 2005 now hosts more than 120 tables per month and includes three teaching programs; Beginner’s Bridge for people with little or no experience, Bridge 201 for players who know how to play but want to learn modern Standard American bridge and a six-week course on playing defense in bridge
