Every hostess needs new ideas for original centerpieces and table settings for those special holiday dinner parties.

Those ideas will abound at the Montevallo Centrala Garden Club’s Tablescapes 2007, scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 4 at Montevallo First United Methodist Church in the fellowship hall.

Viewing of the tables is to begin at noon and lunch, prepared by members of the club, will be served at 12:30 p.m. Music will be provided by Kathy Stewart and Kathy Weese.

The planned tables will each have a theme, ranging

from the simple to the exquisite.

The decorations are made from a variety of objects; some found in any kitchen and some carefully selected items.

The 12 tables are all to be fashioned by members of the club: April Bethea, Meg Boyette, Debbie Blackmon, Laura Bragg, Donna Dickson, Shirlene Epperson, Kim Gray, Helen Gruber, Erin Hayes and Jane Jones.

Other members who are decorating tables are: Mimi Lawley, Betty McElroy, Jan McKinnon, Joan Pickett, Theresa Pritchett, Lacey Reid, Anne Thomas, Lisa Thomas and Karen Willingham.

“Last year’s Tablescapes was a great success and everyone had a wonderful time,” said Thomas, who is treasurer of the club. “This year’s production promises to be even better and we hope to make a sizable donation to our local charities.”

The 25-member Garden Club was organized in 1963 and has sponsored many events and projects that have benefited the city throughout its 44 years.

This is the second-annual Tablescapes, but for many years the club organized spring and fall festivals and arts and crafts shows.

Each year they give a Christmas breakfast for city workers and they donate National Geographic magazine subscriptions to the local elementary, middle and high schools.

Among other causes, they have supported and been actively involved in Fire Prevention Week activities, beautification projects, the installation of colonial signposts leading from Montevallo to The American Village and financing the building of a ramp for a local disabled child.

Tickets for Tablescapes 2007 can be purchased for $15 from any club member. No tickets will be available at the door.
