Five ladies ink scholarships

Five female athletes from across the county signed college scholarships last week with four going to NCAA Division I schools and one to an NCAA Division II school.
Thompson’s Michelle Simmons highlighted the group by signing a volleyball scholarship to play for the University of Georgia. Classmate Zoriah Williams signed to play basketball for Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn.
Pelham softball players Trish Zettler and Christin Crocker each signed scholarships last Wednesday in the school cafeteria. Zettler will join the University of Alabama-Birmingham, while Crocker will play at the University of South Alabama.
First-year Shelby County High School softball catcher, Meredith Sellers, signed Friday with Jacksonville State University. Sellers transferred to Shelby County this fall from Thompson
