Amanda Tapley from North Shelby was crowned Miss Samford University 2008 Nov. 9.

Tapley is a sophomore piano performance and pre-medicine major who also won the talent award for her piano performance of the 3rd Movement from Tschaikowsky’s Concerto No. 1 in B-flat Minor. Her pageant platform is “Music for a Cure.”

A graduate of Briarwood Christian High School, she is the daughter of Patricia and Jeff Tapley. She will represent Samford in the Miss Alabama pageant in June
