Alexander C. Dykes recently enlisted in the United States Army through its Delayed Entry Program. Dykes will be able to enter active duty for one year. The program also provides the option to learn a new skill, travel and become eligible for up to $50,000 toward college.

Dykes, a 2007 graduate of Chilton County High School in Clanton, will report to Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga. January 2008.
