The funeral service for Raymond Thornburg, 78, of Shelby, was held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at 2 p.m., at Bolton-Letlow Chapel. He was buried at Shelby Garden of Rest. Visitation was held Friday, Dec. 28 from 6-8 p.m., at Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home.

Mr. Thornburg, who passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26 at a local hospital, was born May 15, 1929, in Childersburg.

He is survived by his wife, Nina Thornburg; son, Danny (Debbie) Thornburg; daughter, Diane Stone; grandchildren, Jo Aynn (Kyle) Jordan, Danica (Dan) Connell, J’Dree Stone, Danson Thornburg, Julie Stone; sisters, Erselle Laney, Ruby Hart, Judy Williams and Janice Smith; and a host of other family and friends.
