The American Cancer Society and its volunteers have scheduled Relay For Life kickoffs for Shelby County. Relay For Life is an overnight event where teams of people walk along a track to support the fight against cancer. Survivors are honored, and those lost to the disease are remembered. Money raised by the teams goes to the American Cancer Society for cancer research, education, advocacy and support programs. Shelby County events include: South Shelby County, Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. at Shelby County High School; Oak Mountain, Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Oak Mountain High School cafeteria; and North Shelby County, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. at Oak Mountain Lanes in Pelham
