NetWorks gets off the ground
FROM STAFF REPORTS
NetWorks, a program linking Shelby County seniors with community volunteers, was introduced Jan. 9.
The program was created though the partnership of Positive Maturity’s RSVP program, United Way of Central Alabama and The Middle Alabama Area Agency on Aging.
NetWorks Coordinator, Ashley Pittman said the service connects people.
“Each day we receive calls from seniors with needs such as the ones this program addresses,” Pittman said. “There are several groups in our area ready and able to provide assistance, and NetWorks provides the link between provider and recipient.”
Volunteers can assist with transportation needs, the Meals on Wheels program, home safety checks, light house keeping, pet support, minor home repairs and friendly visits.
Individuals or groups interested in volunteering or seniors who have a need can call M4A at 670-5770
