FROM STAFF REPORTS

Herman Parish, New York Times’ best-selling author of the “Amelia Bedelia” children’s series, visited Oak Mountain Intermediate School Jan. 31.

Parish is the nephew of Peggy Parish, who began the series in 1963. After her death in 1988, many fans of the character “Amelia Bedelia” wrote to request more adventures of the nutty housekeeper.

Parrish decided to continue the series in 1995, and has since published twelve books.

Parish’s favorite advice from his aunt was, “Read what you like; just keep reading.”

Linda Sears, OMIS media specialist, helped to entertain the students during Parish’s presentation by dressing and performing as the “literal” housekeeper, Amelia Bedelia
