Tillie Clayton Bailey

Tillie Clayton “Mimi” Bailey, 63, passed away Feb. 3 at her home in Shoal Creek.
She was a gracious, loving and faithful wife, mother, daughter and grandmother. She was born March 10, 1944 in Maylene and was a graduate of Thompson High School and Massey Business College.
For many years, she served as office manager of Neil Bailey Insurance Agency. The past 10 years, she was a homemaker and golfer.
She served as officer of several Ladies Golf Associations in the Birmingham area as president of the Hoover and Greystone Ladies Golf Association. She was an avid supporter of the Birmingham Metro Lady Legacy Golf Foundation, a longtime member of the Helena United Methodist Church and was a current member of the Church at Brookhills.
Her father, Lane Clayton Jr., preceded her in death.
Survivors include mother, Eva Mae Clayton; husband of 43 years, Neil Bailey; daughter, Dawn B. (Evan) Duffy; son, Howard Neil (Dotti) Bailey II; three granddaughters, Mallory Hope Bailey, Taylor Lane Duffy and Amber Brooke Bailey; brother, Larry (Cathy); and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6 at Helena United Methodist Church, with burial at Southern Heritage in Pelham. The Reverends Barbara Harper and Reid Crotty presided.
Pallbearers were Del Clayton, Howard O’Neal, Brad Bailey, Michael Luna, Eric Benson and Randy Caldwell. Honorary pallbearers were the “The Smiley Face Club.”
Visitation was at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham on Tuesday, Feb. 5 from 5-8 p.m.
