TIS students learn about quilts and the Underground Railroad

Dr. Eileen Moore, a professor from Birmingham-Southern College, recently visited Claire Hoffman and Melanie Falconer’s fourth-grade Alabama History classes at Thompson Intermediate School.
Moore taught the students about the myths and facts associated with quilts and the Underground Railroad. Moore guided the children in creating their own quilt squares, depicting scenes from their unit study, which she will then make into a quilt for the school
