Oak Mountain tops Homewood

Chandler Hoffman collected his fourth hat trick of the season to lead No. 5 Oak Mountain (9-4, 4-1) past Homewood, 5-1, Wednesday.

The Eagles scored three goals in the first half and added two in the second half, allowing just one goal by the Patriots in the first 40 minutes.

John Imwalle and Thomas Holloway had the other two goals for the Eagles, while Imwallee, Hoffman, Michael Trasher and Stefan Vaziri each had assists. Goalkeeper Trey Anderson had three saves.

In other boys’ action:

-Altamont 1, Indian Springs 0: Third-ranked Altamont ended No. 1 Indian Springs’ 11-0 run to start the season with a goal by Nick Winokur in overtime at home.

-Chelsea 12, Erwin 2: Daniel Decker had four goals and Ashley Page had three to lead Chelsea to a section win over Erwin Tuesday. Alex Levinson had four saves and allowed no goals, while Jason Thurman had two saves and allowed two goals in net. Chelsea had 45 shots in the game, while allowing only seven.

-Briarwood 7, Moody 0: Alexander Faulk collected a hat trick and an assist to lead Briarwood past Moody in a section game Tuesday. Sean Tilford added two goals and an assist, while William Kreis had a goal and an assist. Andrew Whitaker also had a goal. Chip Elmer had two assists, while Will Pugh had one.

In girls’ action:

-Altamont 4, Indian Springs 3: Altamont edged Indian Springs in a shootout after both teams scored three goals in regulation.

-Chelsea 4, Gardendale 2: Kelly Brennan collected an assist by Courtney Huggins to give Chelsea a 1-0 lead in the first half Tuesday, and added two more in the second half to help lead Chelsea past section opponent Gardendale. Iyani Hughes also scored for the Hornets, with Sar Smith picking up a save on Brennan’s second goal. Gardendale had only 10 shots to Chelsea’s 26, as goalkeeper Emily Kemp had four saves for the Hornets. Ten of the Hornets’ shots were on goal.

-Spain Park 3, Pelham 0: Second-ranked Spain Park improved to 3-1 in Class 6A, Section 5 with a shutout at Pelham Tuesday. Pelham goalkeeper Nora Alcaino had 20 saves. The Jaguars (10-2-0) hosts Oak Mountain Friday.

-Oak Mountain 6, Homewood 0: Andrea Munoz collected a hat-trick to lead Oak Mountain (5-4-3, 1-2) to its first Class 6A, Section 5 victory Tuesday. Morgan Motes added two goals in the win and Lauren Schauwecker had a goal and an assist. Kendal Williamson, Patie Garner and Sydney Herndon each had assists. Goalkeeper Shanna Brooks had six saves.
