Lupita Contreras, a second-grader at Greystone Elementary School, was among students honored at a banquet Thursday night at the Cahaba Grand Ballroom.
Contreras was recognized as the second-grade recipient from Greystone Elementary School for the annual Bob Finley Award.
This prestigious award is given to students who embody the excellent character traits that were held by the late coach Finley.
Teachers and administrators from each Hoover City School select one student per grade level.
“Lupita is a child that always puts others before herself. She is a quiet leader, consistently setting a positive example in our classroom. Lupita is a friend to all students, a conscientious student and a capable helper. I have no doubt that Lupita Contreras will continue to stand out as a young lady of character through out her life. It was a pleasure to nominate her for this award,” said Susan Larkin, Contreras’ teacher
