Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lyon of North Shelby County celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary March 1, 2008, at a reception given by their children at the Valleydale Church on Valleydale Road.

Mrs. Lyon is the former Margaret Stinson of Columbiana.

Mr. Lyon is originally from Wilsonville. They were married March 6, 1943, in Kingsville, Texas.

They are the parents of three children: Sherry Lyon White (Byron) of Tuscaloosa; Ray Lyon (Sheila) of North Shelby; and Sam Lyon (Karen) of Coral Springs, Fla. The couple has 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
