Funeral service for Freddy Hughes, 39, of Columbiana, was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Bolton-Letlow Chapel with the Rev. Nick Wells officiating. Burial followed at Summerhill Cemetery. Visitation was Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home.

Mr. Hughes, who passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at a local hospital, was born on Feb. 17, 1969 in Pell City. Freddy was known as a good, loving, caring person with a big heart. He loved to make everyone laugh. He was “The Best Carpenter There Was.” Freddy loved his family and many friends. In his last days on earth Freddy gave his life and heart to Jesus. He found peace and a greater love in his heart. Freddy will be loved and missed greatly. He is preceded in death by a son, Tony Kellum and a brother, Terry Austin Hughes.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer Kellum Whitmire, Lacey Kellum, Nikki Hughes; his children’s mother, Debra Hughes Quick; step-son, Wesley Knowles; grandchildren; Autumn Kellum, Caitlyn Kellum, Austin Whitmire, Andrew Whitmire, Aubrey Whitmire, Gracyn Knowles; parents, Austin and Virginia Hughes; brother, Donnie Hughes; sisters, Anna Hughes Dover, Deborah Fay Dawson; nieces, Cherity, Summer; nephews, Chris, Tommy, Blake and a host of other family and friends.
