Bell, Gibson named All-GSC golfers

HOOVER – Two members of the University of Montevallo women’s golf team have been named to the women’s golf All-Gulf South Conference Team.

Senior Morgan Bell is one of five student-athletes named to the First Team. The Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island native earned medalist honors at the recent Natural State Golf Classic in Heber Springs, Ark. this past week. She is currently ranked 52nd in the nation in stroke average.

Freshman Emily Gibson was one of four student-athletes named to the Second Team. The Toronto, Ontario native is also ranked nationally in stroke average (89th) and finished tied for second at the University of West Georgia Invitational in Villa Rica, Ga. earlier this spring.

The two are the first Lady Falcons to be named to an All-GSC team. Also named to the GSC First Team were Ana Morales of Arkansas Tech and Jenna Chadwick of Henderson State, along with Bhvana Shetty and Natalie Espinosa from West Florida. Joining Gibson on the Second Team are Meredith Mosel from Henderson State, along with Sarah Ross and Regan Freville from West Georgia.

UM will compete in Hot Springs, Ark. at the 2008 Gulf South Conference Women’s Golf Championships beginning Sunday. Nine teams will compete in a two-day 36-hole tournament to determine the Gulf South Conference champion. The tournament is scheduled to begin Sunday and will conclude Monday
