Competition opens doors for local writer

A television show proposal authored by Helena resident Brett McArdle won second place in the 15th People’s Pilot Competition. Winners were announced on, the Web site that manages the contest.

The competition invites writers to submit proposals for new television series in the drama, comedy and reality genres. McArdle’s proposal, “Spacebound,” is a science-fiction concept in the action/drama category.

Various literary agencies and production companies around Hollywood, including executives with the Fox Network, NBC’s “Law & Order,” Marvel Studios and DreamWorks will review his proposal. McArdle’s submission last year, “Change the World 101,” reached the semi-finalist stage. and the People’s Pilot Competition are creations of veteran television writer and producer Larry Brody, who is currently the creative director of Cloud Creek Institute for the Arts, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to fostering new creative talent
