Hooper awarded UNA scholarship

Meredith Hooper of Chelsea has been awarded a leadership scholarship by the University of North Alabama.
A graduating senior of Chelsea High School, she is a member of the Shelby County Youth Leadership and she attended the Troy Leadership Conference.
She has served in various leadership positions that include vice president of her junior class, president of her freshman class, secretary of her freshman class, as well as an officer in the Future Business Leaders of America and the Distributive Education Clubs of America.
Additional club memberships include the Future Community and Career Leaders of America, the Interact Club and the Diamond Dolls.
She was voted “Most School Spirit” in the ninth- and 10th-grades, and was Miss August in the Chelsea Calendar Girl Pageant.
She participated in the Lads to Leaders Program with the Hoover Church of Christ youth group and was voted Leaderette of the Year.
She has also been voted student of the month, and has participated in the State DECA and FBLA competitions.
The daughter of Mike and Carlene Hooper will be an incoming freshman at UNA with plans to major in business management
