Julie McCall of Pelham, a senior at Hope Christian School, was recently presented with an engraved bronze medallion to signify her selection as a distinguished finalist in the 2008 Prudential Spirit of Community awards program, which honors outstanding youth volunteers.

McCall was honored for leading a project through the school’s Key Club to distribute goody bags to adult chemotherapy patients at area hospitals twice each year – once before Christmas and once in the spring.

McCall, whose mother underwent chemotherapy as a cancer patient, has coordinated the project for more than three years
