Mary Foster of North Shelby is the recipient of the Ursula Clark Parson Scholarship award presented during Birmingham-Southern College’s 2008 Honors Day Convocation.

The award memorializes the mother of late distinguished alumna Mary Jean Parson who was a 1956 Phi Beta Kappa graduate and later a leader in the Birmingham arts community. It is given to a worthy female in her sophomore or junior year who is interested in the field of creative writing.

Foster is a graduate of Briarwood Christian High School. She is the daughter of Gary and Holly Foster
