Alvin Cecil Smith was born in Alabama. Mr. Smith of Calera passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at the age of 57. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Charter Funeral Home with the burial in Ryan’s Cross Road Cemetery. Brother Gary Bean officiated at the services. Visitation was held Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at the Charter Funeral Home in Calera.

His father, Cecil Smith; stepfather, Ralph Franklin Lucas; and sister, Darlene Watley Lucas, preceded Mr. Smith in death.

Survivors include his mother, Elva Lou Lucas; daughter, Cathy Smith; sons, Billy Ray Smith and Bobby Ray Smith; brothers, CL (Donna) Smith, Eddie Dean Smith and Ralph (Myra) Lucas; sisters, Ann (George) Emfinger and Angie (Carl) Glass; six step children; eight grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; and 25 step great-grandchildren.
