Letters to the Editor for June 4th, 2008

Dear Editor,
In many conversations with neighbors about local politics, the main thing I&8217;ve heard is the disappointment in the representation we received with Commissioner Ted Crockett and voters are searching for the candidate with the least connections to him.
Personally, my concern is finding a candidate who pursues an understanding of the comprehensive plan and pushes for its implementation in full.
Items such as saving ridge lines and long range planning growth patterns have so far been trumped by developers and various interests at the expense of our scenic views, roads, school populations and the people&8217;s voice.
We have to find (or create) a champion on the commission; one willing to go against these powerful groups.
My hope is that the winning candidate takes advantage of the resources we have in Alex Dudchock, Ray Hamilton and our top notch Planning and Development Department.
I hope he or she is also guided by the comprehensive plan, not the actions of Mr. Crockett.
