Cathy Sherbet, an award-winning graduate of the University of Montevallo, has been promoted to the position of Wynfrey Occasions sales manager for off-site catered events for the AAA-Four Diamond Wynfrey Hotel at Riverchase Galleria in Hoover, Ala.

In her new role, Sherbet will arrange events of all sizes for Wynfrey Occasions, including small intimate parties in homes to more lavish corporate galas attended by thousands of people. The 329-room Wynfrey Hotel, which is connected to one of the region’s largest indoor shopping malls, draws social groups, meeting professionals, business travelers, and vacationers from around the world.

Sherbet was most recently a catering assistant for the hotel. She joined the hotel in 2007 after graduating with honors from the University of Montevallo. Before joining the hotel, Sherbet served as UM’s master ambassador and hostess, orientation leader, Student Government Association senior class president and Chi Omega Fraternity executive officer and chairperson. She worked as an intern for the Rick and Bubba Show on WZZK-FM in Birmingham from May-December 2006
