The Birmingham Vipers ’97, a travel softball team compiled of athletes from the central Alabama area, recently qualified for the ASA Nationals.

The 10-under team defeated the Auburn Dirt Devils last week, 7-1 and 10-3, to qualify for the tournament. The Vipers are now 32-11 in nine tournaments, scoring 486 runs and allowing 222.

The national tournament will be played in Bloomington, Ind., July 29-Aug. 3.
