A portion of proceeds from Alabaster’s CityFest June 7 went toward supporting the city’s new EMPOWER program.

The program names stands for Everyone is Motivated by Positive Opportunities When Experiencing Recreation.

The program aims to pair up children and adults with disabilities with mentors who help them enhance their lives through recreation.

One recent event included bowling at Oak Mountain Lanes.
