FROM STAFF REPORTS

There will be a community-wide cell phone collection campaign event for Cell Phones for Soldiers on Saturday, June 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Veterans Park on Valleydale Road near Spain Park High School.

The event will act as an official drop-off point for old cell phones where they will then be sold to a company that recycles them. The proceeds are used to purchase calling cards that are sent to troops overseas (each donated cell phone buys one hour of talk time).
