HOOVER – An Ensley man faces charges of stealing more than 1,700 gallons of gasoline from a Hoover convenience store.

Demetric Lamond Chapman, 30, has been charged with second-degree felony theft.

Police say he took $7,300 worth of gas from the Sunny Foods store on Riverchase Parkway.

Chapman was released Sunday from the Shelby County Jail on $15,000 bond.

Hoover Police Capt. Jim Coker said police are still looking for at least two other men in connection with the theft, which happened on four separate occasions since June 25. Coker said the men stole the gas directly from the pump, using a modified pickup truck with drums on back
