Skateboard fans will have their chance to see world-famous skateboarder Tony Hawk in person July 23.

Hawk will bring his sixth-annual Boom Boom HuckJam tour to the Verizon Wireless Music Center parking lot next week for the first time after the tour partnered with Live Nation venues this year.

“We have a very strong following in those markets — lots of enthusiasts,” said Steven Perelman, vice president of business development for Tony Hawk Inc. “We know there’s a lot of Tony Hawk fans in the south.”

The all-outside tour will visit a wide variety of venues, including sports arenas, amphitheaters and stadiums, in 24 cities in five weeks.

“By going outside there’s huge potential for this being the most heavily attended (of the tours),” Perelman said. “We can really adjust the venue to accommodate not only our show, but also we’ll have a large venue area.”

Joining Hawk will be skateboarders Sergie Ventura, Kevin Stabb, Neal Hendrix and Jesse Fritsch.

The tour combines skateboarding, BMX and freestyle motocross (FMX). BMX performers will be Dennis McCoy, Kevin Robinson and John Parker. FMX performers are Sean Nielson, Greg Garrison and Drake McElroy.

The show will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the gates opening at 5 p.m. General admission tickets are available in advance for $30 or $35 the day of the show. A carload package is available for $99, providing a ticket to every person in a standard passenger car.
