Oak Mountain rising senior Louise Gibson pitched two scoreless innings to start the nightcap of an All-Star doubleheader Wednesday to lead the South to a 6-1 victory over the North.

Gibson, who was 1-3 from the plate in the two games, also pitched 2 1/3 innings in game one, striking out four.

After falling to the North, 7-6, in the first game at the Kiwanis SportsPlex in Huntsville, the South got on the board early in game two. Pelham outfielder Hailey Glynn drew a two-out walk and scored the South’s first run of the game on an RBI single by Kelsey Cooper of Mary Montgomery in the first inning.

The South held the North scoreless through five innings in game two. The North scored its lone run in the sixth inning but was unable to rally, like it did to win the first game with six runs in the sixth.

All-Star Sports Week continued Thursday with the volleyball and basketball games and will conclude Friday with the North-South football game at Alabama A&M University at 7 p.m.
