RMS students to return Tuesday

Classes at Riverchase Middle School will resume as normal Tuesday morning. RMS was forced to dismiss students today at 10 a.m. because of a power outage at the school.

A damaged underground power line caused the outage, according to Shelby County Schools spokeswoman Cindy Warner. About 200 students were already at school when the outage was discovered. Most other students were sent back home as their parents came to drop them off. The rest of the students were sent home around 10 a.m.

Warner said Alabama Power Company officials expected repairs to take most of the day but were finished shortly after lunch.
