I-65 construction maybe too good to be real

Dear Editor,

AL-DOT has missed and lied about every single target ever created for this project. I started discussing this with the state DOT and the Governor’s office 11 years ago. Every time the answer is “Next summer.” They should all be fired. Not one tablespoon of dirt has been moved in over a decade of running mouths versus machines.

I put zero confidence in the idea that construction will begin in October or that it will ever be finished by 2011. We will be lucky if construction is started by 2011.

I-65 through Shelby County looks the same as when it opened in the 1970s. Zero percent growth. What has been the growth rate of Shelby County? Chilton County? Use of the Gulf Beaches by those from the North? It took almost two hours to reach the airport in Birmingham from Alabaster yesterday. These guys don’t sit in this mess, I do. I wonder what Ike would think of his Interstate road system to quickly move military people across country and promote travel and growth.

Sorry, but your article would have been more believable if Bigfoot was sighted in Pelham.
