Funeral service for John Calvin Leslie, age 69, of Montevallo, was held Friday, Sept. 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel in Montevallo. The Rev. David Isabel and the Rev. George Golden officiated. Burial followed at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Maylene.
Visitation was held from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Leslie, who passed away on Sept. 3, 2008 at Shelby Hospital, was a deacon at Helena Pentacostal Worship Center. He was retired.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Leslie; sons, John, Ronnie, James and Roger Leslie; sister, Kathy Rice; brothers, Ricky Byars, Jerome Byars, Morell Byars and Charles Byars; six grandchildren, Kevin Leslie, Grey Douglas Jr., April Deason, Brooke Thompson, Brittany Leslie and Cody Leslie and four great-grandchildren.
