Specializing in Southern affairs

Have you noticed something different about Old Town Helena? I definitely did as I observed landscaping improvements and benches and new displays in sparkling front windows.
Recent revitalization is built around plans to create a Wedding District that will bring new energy to this historic area.
Change is afoot as new merchants open their doors and one of the most inviting new interiors, Southern Events & Rentals, recently had their grand opening. Local Helena resident, mom and experienced event planner, Tracy Murphy, is onsite to direct, consult with or coordinate any special occasion you may be planning for the upcoming holidays or beyond.
Weddings are expected to be a focus, but Tracy emphasizes that she will work with events of any size and will be the local resource for tables, tablecloths and chair rentals, and tabletop accessories for the small-scale or upscale event. China, crystal and candelabras or monogrammed linens beyond just the designs featured in-store are available. Also, Tracy will have stainless accessories for tailgating parties or family reunions.
“Family-owned businesses promote community,” said Frances Dunn, who is Tracy’s mother and owner of Jasmine Corporation.
In her soft-hued office, Tracy offers a comfortable and private setting where she can provide consultation.
“A bride, for example, can be as involved with the planning as she wishes,” emphasizes Tracy. “It’s my goal to listen and remain open-minded, while helping create a customized solution that fits the taste and the budget of each client.”
“We will also have a tuxedo rental service located in-house for proms and other dress occasions. The fitting room is just down the hall.”
Next door to Southern Events is Helena’s new Wedding Chapel. The chapel, with the Rev. Carol Parker officiating, may be reserved by appointment.
