Briarwood finds victory in blue

Returning home first time in five games, Briarwood was ready to put on its navy blue tops and move forward in Class 5A, Region 4.
They did so with the help of quarterback Paul Barber, who returned from injury to throw for more than 220 yards and two touchdowns, as Briarwood blanked Moody, 35-0.
Barber found Chandler Packard from 36 yards out late in the first quarter and found John Gazzani in the second quarter on a 4-yard pass. But it wasn’t just No. 7 who tested his arm. Halfback Caleb Castille opened the scoring for the No. 9 Lions (3-1) with a 31-yard pass to Packard and later rushed for a 5-yard score in the fourth quarter.
Ben Bracewell, last week’s starter at quarterback, came into play in second half to gain more experience under center. He found Ben Willoughby from seven yards out in the third quarter.
Briarwood will take a break from region play next week, as it welcomes a challenge from Spain Park (1-3) at Lion Pride Stadium.
