Vincent head football coach Dwight Spradley is all about the team. And Friday night’s 35-6 win over the Winterboro Bulldogs was certainly a team victory.

The Yellow Jackets out rushed the Bulldogs 284 yards to 68 and put together 332 yards of total offense to 183 for the visitors.

The stingy Vincent defense held the Bulldogs to a single first quarter touchdown while the Vincent offense seemed to click on all cylinders getting 19 first downs to eight for the visitors.

While Vincent’s Corey Deloach complete six of 14 passes for just 48 yards, he managed to connect on one those for a touchdown and had no interceptions.

His counterpart for Winterboro completed six of ten passes for 115 yards and a touchdown. But he was intercepted twice. One went the other way for a Yellow Jacket score.

“This is probably as well as we’ve played this year… We got after them pretty good in the first half, and I was real proud of them. The effort was there,” said Spradley.

He said of Juwan Rogers, who carried the load 26 times for the Yellow Jackets for 244 yards and three touchdowns, “We’ve got a team full of good players. He’s just one of them.”

He noted the play of his quarterback and said the defense is “playing lights out.” Spradley said, “We’ve got some good receivers and the line’s coming along.

Receivers for Vincent include Brett Frizzell who caught two passes for 34 yards and a touchdown.

The Yellow Jackets stuck first on a 9-yard pass from Deloach to Frizzell and a point after by Frizzell to go up 7-0 at the 10:10 mark of the first quarter.

Seconds later, Winterboro scored on a 52-yard pass play from Joshua Taylor to Barcardy McClendon. But the PAT was no good, and that would end the Bulldog scoring.

Vincent would score again in the first quarter on a 5-yard Rogers run and Frizzell Kick and with 7:16 remaining in the second quarter on a 25-yard Rogers run and Frizzell kick to take a 21-6 lead into halftime.

The Yellow Jackets would score twice in the fourth quarter on a 2-yard Rogers run and 76-yard Keyon Wallace interception with PATs to make it 35-6.

The Yellow Jackets (4-1, 3-1) host Thorsby in region play for homecoming next Friday.
