Hope wins homecoming

It’s been six years since a Hope Christian School football team has won homecoming, but the Eagles came through Friday night against CrossPointe.
Hope head coach John Gordon said he believed the difference between this year’s homecoming and recent years is a combination of the opponent’s strength and improvements made at Hope.
“We have played a lot stronger opponents in the past relative to what our team was. Our team is a whole lot better this year … We showed that we were a lot better team last night. We drove the ball down the field and stopped them a lot better than we would have last year,” Gordon said.
Defensively, Hope was led by Caleb Rettig with 11 solo tackles and 22 total and 19 total from Jacob Medder.
The Eagles were originally scheduled to travel to Pioneer next Friday. They will travel to Tri-County instead on Saturday. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
