Pro–life advocate Jill Stanek, who founded BornAliveTruth.org, is set to headline Sav-A-Life Shelby’s annual banquet Thursday at the Pelham Civic Complex.

“We work with a national speakers bureau to draw in well-known speakers who reflect our organization’s mission,” said assistant director Amy Griner.

According to Griner, Stanek will discuss the story of how she became so strongly against abortion while working as a nurse.

The organization sold out the upcoming banquet weeks ago but encourages the public to continue to provide donations.

“This event supports every aspect of our mission,” said Griner. “It will provide funding for our pregnancy resource centers, support our Pure Choices program and even things like our mommy bucks.”

The pregnancy resource centers, located in Pelham and the Greystone area, offer counseling for women who have discovered they are pregnant, educational tools to help prevent unwanted pregnancies and emotional support for women who have made the choice to have an abortion in the past.

Mommy bucks are earned by mothers-to-be who attend education classes on parenting. Griner said if they earn enough points before the baby is born they can often get cribs or car seats.

The organization also hosts the annual Walk for Life event each spring to bring awareness to their cause and raise money for programs and services.

Griner said anyone who would like to support the organization can send donations to Sav-A-Life at P.O. Box 1359, Pelham, Ala. 35124. All donations are tax deductible.
