The American Village Barn will be the setting for the Southern Women’s Committee of 50 live and silent auctions to benefit the Shelby County Arts Council.
The event will be held on Nov. 16 and will begin at 6 p.m.
The Southern Women’s Committee of 50 is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to improve cultural, civic and educational purposes within the southern Jefferson and Shelby County communities.
Each year the committee chooses two non-profit organizations to be the major benefactors of their annual Gala held each spring.
This year’s nonprofits were an American Village program, which takes information about citizenship into the schools and another project that helps fulfill birthday wishes for foster children. While those two were worthwhile organizations, there was a close third in the competition.
The auction will benefit the runner-up to this year’s benefactors to the Gala, the Shelby County Arts Council. It will be a couples event.
Items to be auctioned include the obvious works of art that would be a natural for an auction benefitting such a prestigious organization as the Shelby County Arts Council.
There will also be dining packages, gift baskets and beach trips as well.
All proceeds for the event will assist the Shelby County Arts Council in its many endeavors to improve and enhance the arts in our community. For more information on the event, call 669-6264.
