Maloney named South Region Player of Year

Jonathan Maloney was named the mens’ soccer Daktronics South Region Player of the Year for the second-straight year Tuesday.
Maloney, who became the University of Montevallo all-time goal scorer last year, reached the same mark in the Gulf South Conference on Nov. 7 when he scored his 70th career goal in a GSC semifinal match against Christian Brothers University. He helped lead the UM Falcons to their third-straight NCAA South Region appearance, as the Falcons will meet Tampa this Friday at 7 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fla. Maloney was named the GSC Player of the Year last week. He is the lone UM player on the All-South Region First Team.
Jim Witherow was named toe the All-South Region Second Team.
