Calera moves into 4A poll

Calera High School moved into the Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 4A boys’ basketball poll Thursday at No. 10. The Eagles started the season Nov. 21 with a win over Pelham and has since rolled off high scoring wins and a 5-1 record. The Eagles move into the poll for the first time this season.

In the AISA, Coosa Valley Academy and Kingwood Christian dropped from the poll after being ranked No. 8 and 9, respectively last week. Both teams have had rough starts to the season.

In the girls’ polls, Briarwood Christian (7-1) fell from No. 6 to No. 8 in Class 5A after losing to Montevallo in the Pell City Thanksgiving Classic. Coosa Valley fell out of the AISA poll. They were previously No. 10.
