Shirley Ann Porter Smith, 71, of Calera died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at her residence in Calera.
She was born on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1937 in Shelby, daughter of the late Amos Porter and the late Bessie Ellen Morris Porter. She was retired from Jemison Basket Factory.
Surviving are her husband, John Robert “Buddy” Smith of Calera; two sisters, Lula Faye Porter of Jemison and Betty Sue Porter of Jemison.
She was preceded in death by her father, Amos Porter; mother, Bessie Ellen Porter; sister, Dorothy Nell Porter.
Friends were received from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 at Martin Chapel.
Services were held Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Thompson Chapel Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Thurman Cleckler and the Rev. Mark Bolton officiating.
Interment followed in Shelby Memory Gardens, Calera.
