Oak Mountain senior offensive lineman George Allers recently committed to Samford University, according to former head coach Jerry Hood.

The 6-foot-5, 270-pound left tackle started as a junior and senior for the Eagles, playing most of his senior season with an injured back.

“He was a fine player for us,” Hood said. “We were very fortunate to have him. He ended up working his way to being a great player.”

Allers also received interest from the U.S. Naval Academy and Southern Miss.
