Darius Hatcher of Pelham is the recipient of a four-year University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Collegiate Honors Scholarship valued up to $20,000. He is the son of Reginald and LaDretta Hatcher of Pelham.

Hatcher is a senior at Pelham High School. He is an A-Honor Roll student who plays basketball and makes amateur films. At UAB, he will major in communication studies.
