Funeral service for Chief George Humphries, age 82, of Vincent, was Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Bolton-Letlow Chapel with the Rev. Mack Ritch officiating. Burial followed at Vincent Revival Center Cemetery.
Visitation was Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home.
Chief Humphries, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at his home, was born July 23, 1926, in Jefferson County. He was retired from chief of police for Vincent after 30 years. Chief Humphries was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Humphries, and a grandson, Dustin Lee Newman.
He is survived by daughters, Brenda (Paul) Curvin, Gay (Philip) Woods and Norma Terry) Newman; sons, Sherman (Diane) Humphries, Jackie (Coleen) Humphries and Jason (Lisa) Humphries; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Harvey Pritchett; and a host of other family and friends.
