The death of a Shelby Baptist Medical Center house supervisor is being investigated by the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office after the 63-year-old Jemison woman was found Saturday morning at her home with a fatal gunshot wound.
Wilma G. Scott was a long-time employee at Shelby Baptist, working nearly 40 years as the emergency room director and recently as house supervisor.
A spokesman with the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office said that all deaths of this nature are investigated as a homicide until it can be ruled otherwise.
April Weaver, a spokesperson with Shelby Baptist, said the loss of Scott has been extremely difficult.
“As you can imagine, the staff and physicians at Shelby Baptist are deeply saddened by the loss of our much loved team member. Our chaplains have been available to assist those needing additional support through this difficult time. Wilma was a wonderful, caring employee who touched the lives of many people each day,” Weaver said. “She will certainly be missed at Shelby.”
