Matters of the Heart workshops set

The community is encouraged to visit First Christian Church Feb. 20-21 for worship and workshops about God’s transforming love.

Special guests and workshop leaders will be Dr. Sharon Watkins, general minister and president of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and Dr. Rick Lowery, dean at Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, Ky.

The program will begin Friday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. with worship and a message by Dr. Watkins, who was recently selected to deliver the sermon at President Barack Obama’s National Prayer Service.

Workshops will be held Saturday, Feb. 21 at 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Participants can choose to attend three out of seven workshops offered including: Heart to Heart with the GMP, Centering Prayer, A Heart-y Stewardship, Every Congregation Needs a Little Conflict, A Light Shines in the Darkness: Transformation in the Isaiah Tradition, Dare-to-Care, and If Hearts Could Talk.
