Wilma Scott

Wilma Gentry Scott, age 63, of Jemison died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009. She was a graduate of Calera High School and George C. Wallace Nursing School in Selma. Most of the 40-plus years, Wilma served in the health care profession were in Alabaster at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, where she was emergency room director before becoming house supervisor.
Wilma was a long-time active member of Mars Hill Baptist Church in Jemison.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ellis Gentry of Calera.
Survivors include Wilma’s husband, Herbert F. “Did” Scott of Jemison; mother, Mary Gentry of Calera; a son, Jason (Gina) Scott of Jemison; one granddaughter, Gentry Scott of Jemison; and a sister, Carol (Johnny) Mathis of Centreville.
Visitation was from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. The funeral service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at Mars Hill Baptist Church in Jemison. Burial followed in the church’s cemetery.
