A man died in a car crash in Helena Sunday night.

McCalla resident Marshall Bass Ford, 43, was driving in the area of South Shades Crest Road and South Crest Trail when his car, a 2003 Lincoln Navigator, left the roadway and struck a tree.

The crash happened at 9:11 p.m.

The man was believed to be on his way home to McCalla, said Helena Police Capt. Tim Carter in an e-mail.

Ford was apparently killed instantly, Carter said.
